演講提要:
本講演以現代華僧太虛與印光大師為中心，探討近代中國佛教如何理解與評價其他宗教，並反省排他論、包容論、多元論三分法是否足以說明其宗教觀。講演指出，二人都不是沿單一真理軸線對他教作整體判決，而是依倫理、社會、制度、教義與救度等不同層次作出差異化判斷。為此，講演主張應以「宗教差異的層次進路」來理解現代華人佛教，並引入「跨層意義與語行力」作為補充分析工具。
This lecture examines how Modern Chinese Buddhist Masters Taixu and Yinguang understood and evaluated other religions in modern Chinese Buddhism, and asks whether the familiar typology of exclusivism, inclusivism, and pluralism is adequate for describing their views. It argues that neither thinker judges other religions along a single axis of truth. Instead, both make differentiated judgments across ethical, social, institutional, doctrinal, and soteriological domains. The lecture, therefore, proposes a layered approach to religious difference and reconsiders Buddhist inclusivism, while introducing cross-layer meaning and illocutionary force as tools for explaining the complexity of Buddhist discourse on religious others.
