[Important Academic Announcement] Revisions to the Department’s “Regulations for Degree Conferral and Graduate Degree Examinations” and Synchronized Revisions to the Graduate Student Handbook
Approved at the 2nd Academic Affairs Meeting of Academic Year 113 (April 16, 2025):
(1) In response to the university’s implementation of the “Program for Bilingual Learning for Students in College,” the Regulations for Degree Conferral and Graduate Degree Examinations have been revised: Master’s programs are now divided into the “General Division” and the “GPE Division,” establishing the curriculum framework and required/elective credit totals for the GPE Division.
(2) Revisions to the Foreign Language Proficiency Graduation Standards for Master’s and Doctoral Students: BESTEP (Bilingual Education for Students in College) B2 High-Intermediate has been added as an approved English proficiency standard for graduation.
(3) Revisions to the Guidelines for Master’s and Doctoral Students Pursuing Degrees: Article 4 of the “Important Notes for Department Graduate Students” and relevant clauses within the Master’s and Doctoral study regulations have been updated, with related guidelines synchronized accordingly.
(4) Applications for degree thesis/dissertation oral defenses shall be submitted in accordance with the university’s official notices and the schedule announced by the Graduate Studies Division. The wording has been updated pursuant to the Graduate Studies Division’s “Important Notes for Degree Examination Applications.”

※ Note: Revisions concerning the second foreign language regulations for the Doctoral program have not yet been passed by the Department Council and Academic Affairs Meeting, and will be re-announced once approved.
