Abstract | The Promotion game was one of ancient Chinese gambling, it put down the government official rank titles on paper, and edited to be a chart board. People join the game using dices and chessman, winning or losing chips in the end.
It was created in Tang Dynasty and fixed its appearance in Ming-Ching Period. As time goes by, people like it more and more. As there were differences of government systems between dynasties, the contents of the Promotion games in every dynasty were also different. For this reason, those who compose these games have to know well the government systems and official ranks of his time. Modern government systems and official ranks are totally different from ancient ones, therefore the Promotion game was no longer existing. This article intends to investigate the origin and development of this game, hoping to keep and introduce some kind of traditional entertainment element. |
