It argues that neither thinker judges other religions along a single axis of truth. Instead, both make differentiated judgments across ethical, social, institutional, doctrinal, and soteriological domains. The lecture, therefore, proposes a layered approach to religious difference and reconsiders Buddhist inclusivism, while introducing cross-layer meaning and illocutionary force as tools for explaining
